📍NEWBURY :
• 12.40 - NASSALAM 5/2 (1pt) :
This is a hot little race with all of them coming off the back of a win and honestly none of the 4 would be a surprise today.
Gary Moores runner left a very good impression winning on his chase debut at Ascot, despite jumping left throughout he showed grit to out battle a Nichols horse on the run in. With improvement likely and todays left-handed track a convenience I fancy him to come out on top although he might ideally want a bit more juice in the ground.
• 1.50 - MISTER COFFEY 3/1 (1pt) :
I’ve been waiting for this one to start chasing having always looked built for this discipline - He developed into a useful hurdler last season but this A big scopey type will surely come into his own over the larger obstacles.
He’s more than proven his ability fresh, having won on his reappearance every season to date and Henderson has his yard in decent nick at the moment with a 27% SR in the last fortnight and also does particularly well with his handicap debutantes.. I think this lad is worth a chance first time out in what looks a a good contest.
3.35 - DOLPHIN SQUARE 7/1 (1pt x EW) :
A good open race this, plenty in with a chance tricky to assess with the ground an unknown.
Phillip Hobbs holds a pretty strong hand in this with his 3 runners, all of them arrive in form and with reasonable claims - the market seems to favour his lightly raced 6yo but it’s the second in line who I fancy.
Our selection has put in his highest rated performances at this venue and has a striking 5-11 record under todays jockey David Maxwell. Just 2lb above last winning mark I’d expect a bold showing though he probably wouldn’t want a swamp unlike..
- SHANNON BRIDGE 25/1 (0.5pt x EW) The Skelton’s runner, who would become VERY interesting should the morning rain fruition and the going change to soft/heavy.
The quick surfaces haven’t suited so far since reappearing for the season and I think could be on a pretty nice mark should he get his favoured conditions.
📍LINGFIELD
• 2.05 - FAUVETTE 10/3 (1pt)
This is a strong sprint for the grade and it’s Rae Guests filly who gets a confident vote to go back to back having won over 6f at Chelmsford lto.
Backed up by the clock that form looks good and she seemed to have kept something up the sleeve that day having been eased off.
Adam Kirby retains the ride and if stall 9 isn’t an inconvenience today, i think she’ll just have too much closing speed for these though Marks Bear will not be far away.
📍 DONCASTER
• 2.50 - WHITEWALKER 11/4 NAP (2pts)
Gary Hanmers runner looks hard to oppose having escaped a penalty for last weeks 3length win under very similar conditions.
The time of that run was very good for the grade and though this race looks to have a little more depth, a repeat effort should be enough to go very close under experienced claimer Tabitha Worsley.
Alistair Ralphs runner Grooveur really caught my eye on reading, a steady improver steps up to 3m for the first time on handicap debut with a 10lb claimer.. hmm, tempting.
