Tuesday (18th June 2024) – 6:30 Brighton: THE DEFIANT
The Defiant will have it’s supporters here in what looks a very average race – with only four other rivals.
He’ll also be having his 70h career race here today and is dropped a pound from last time. However, I feel he’s got some big questions to answer – having been beaten 11 lengths last time out (8th) and the time before by 6 lengths (6th).
Yes, he’s also into a Class 6 race here, which makes life easier, but that also comes at a price – he’s got 10-1 to carry, which will be the joint second most he’s every carried in
a race.
He’s also won just twice (from 39) on the grass – with his recent wins all coming on the AW. In fact his last win on the green stuff came way back in June 2019 at Thisk. This was also off a 3lbs lower mark and his only other win on the turf came off a 10lb lower rating.
The final negative is the track – he’s raced here at Brighton four times and been beaten on each
occassion.
So, all things considered, I’d rather be siding with proven CD winners Wrestling Revenue and Batchelor Boy here, while we’ll also have he consistent Say You’ll Never in our corner too.
