🟩 5:12pm Pontefract – Shaladar (Win)
Shaladar lines up from a mark 9lbs lower than where he began last season and returns with a strong record fresh. His last win came off 6lbs higher
in September 2022 under Oisin McSweeney, who is back on board today.
There is a small concern over the ground – he ideally wants a bit more cut – but this stiff mile should suit, and he’s well treated if anywhere near his best. The seven-runner field has a slightly awkward shape, but several firms are paying three places, which adds some appeal for each-way players.

Passengerontheship steps up to three miles for the first time, and the signs are this could unlock further improvement. He shaped like a stayer when finishing second over 2m 4f+ at Newcastle last time – a run that came with plenty of market confidence.
He’s still learning his trade and there’s stamina in
the pedigree, so I’m happy to take the chance that this extra distance will suit. He’s been edged up a couple of pounds for that latest effort, but remains well treated. I’m A Starman could be the main threat if handling the ground, but the selection is progressive and the one to beat.
