Once the National Hunt
season starts, I pay very little attention to what happens on the all-weather during the winter. As we have no jumps action to dive into this afternoon, I had a quick scan through today's card at Lingfield and the name Jack Morland leapt off the page.
Morland, a new face in Newmarket, had his first runner in November last year. From his last eight runners, Jack has recorded six winners, including STARSHIBA
(5/2), who swept home from the rear to score over this course-and-distance on New Year's Eve.
Morland's recruit has claimed all-weather victories for David Elsworth, David O'Meara, and Mick Appleby, scoring three times off marks in the low 80s. Callum Shepherd's mount carries a four-pound penalty today but is still running off a rating of just 75. Given Morland's incredible run of form, you have to fancy Starshiba to
follow up.
