1:50pm Cheltenham – Ginny’s Destiny
Ginny’s Destiny has yet to fire this season, but excuses can be made for both runs. The ground was likely too quick in the Paddy Power, and the track didn’t suit in the Peterborough
Chase at Huntingdon last time. With overnight rain softening the ground, conditions are now much more favorable for the Paul Nicholls-trained gelding, who has also been eased 3lbs in the handicap.
While Iroko and Gemirande have their merits, the main danger could be Grandeur D’Ame. However, Ginny’s Destiny looks well-placed to bounce back in this weaker contest.
Recommendation: Ginny’s Destiny – 4/1
2:25pm Cheltenham – L’Homme Presse (Nap)
L’Homme Presse is the standout selection in this year’s Cotswold Chase. The Venetia Williams-trained ten-year-old made an excellent return when third in the King George on Boxing Day, and this looks a much easier task. A former Brown Advisory winner over this course and distance, he receives weight from Gentlemansgame and should have too much class
for this field.
Although he hasn’t won over 3m 1f before, this race lacks depth, and he should justify odds-on favoritism.
Recommendation: L’Homme Presse (Nap) – Evens
2:05pm Doncaster – Moon Rocket
The River Don Novices’ Hurdle looks a modest renewal, and Moon Rocket is fancied to maintain his unbeaten record
over hurdles. The Kim Bailey-trained gelding has won both starts this season, including a comfortable success at Southwell earlier this month.
While Western Knight is the form pick, Moon Rocket’s progressive profile and ability to handle a stamina test make him the one to beat.
Recommendation: Moon Rocket – 4/1
3:15pm Doncaster – Snipe (Each-Way)
The Great Yorkshire Chase is a competitive affair, and Snipe appeals as an each-way option at 10/1. The Skelton-trained eight-year-old has run well in defeat this season and should relish the step up in trip.
Although softer ground would be ideal, Snipe has the class to feature prominently in a race that could suit hold-up performers. Sine Nomine and The Changing Man are others to consider,
but Snipe looks the value play.
Recommendation: Snipe (Each-Way) – 10/1 (5 places)
