2:30pm Hereford – Duhallow Tommy
Rath Gaul Hill comes into this race on the back of a win at Ayr’s Scottish National meeting, but a 9lb rise in the weights makes life tougher here. He may be better suited to longer
trips in the future.
Instead, Duhallow Tommy (6/4) looks the one to beat. Although no match for Hasthing at Windsor last time, that form was boosted when the winner scored again recently. The drop back in trip shouldn’t be an issue, as he has previously won over a similar distance from a lower mark.
Recommendation: Duhallow Tommy (Win) – 1pts @ 7/4 best, 6/5 most
3:30pm Hereford – Luttrell Lad (Each-Way)
Luttrell Lad (8/1) has been sliding down the weights and showed signs of a revival when fourth at Southwell last time. Now 2lbs below his last winning mark and with a useful 7lb claimer on board, he looks primed for a big run.
While Anyharminasking is a credible rival, Luttrell Lad’s previous form in competitive handicaps suggests he can
outrun his odds in this company.
Recommendation: Luttrell Lad (E/W 3p) – 0.5 pts e/w @ 8/1
3:50pm Plumpton – Vision De Maine (Nap)
With heavy rain forecast, conditions could play a key role here. Northern Poet is in fine form but may struggle if the ground becomes too testing, while Invincible Nao is unproven over this extended trip.
Vision De Maine (5/1) is the selection. He was unsuited by the tight turns at Wincanton last time and reportedly suffered interference. Prior to that, he had won two of his last three starts over fences and remains well-handicapped. If he handles the ground, he should go close.
Recommendation: Vision De Maine (Win NAP) – 1pts @ 4/1
