1:10pm Leopardstown – Impaire Et Passe (Nap)
Day two of the Dublin Racing Festival brings a stacked card, and the opener is no exception. While Queens Gamble has been on my radar, giving weight to 19
rivals in a handicap hurdle is a tough ask, especially with the Irish form being a bit of a mystery.
Ballyburn has his fans after a chase debut, but I wasn’t fully convinced. His Kempton run over Christmas was underwhelming, and while the trip and ground here suit better, I’m leaning toward Impaire Et Passe. Already a Grade 1 chase winner (Limerick, 2m4f), he’s proven over this sort of trip. His jumping can be quirky, but he’s classy
enough to handle it. Paul Townend knows him well, and while Ballyburn is the flashier name, Impaire Et Passe could spring a surprise.
Pick: Impaire Et Passe (Nap) – 11/4
1:32pm Lingfield – Moel Arthur
Zoran is a Kempton specialist and only 1lb higher than his last win, but Moel Arthur
caught the eye with a strong course-and-distance win last month. He’s up 3lb for that, but with Zoran likely to set a solid pace, Moel Arthur should get the run he needs. Callum Shepherd stays aboard, and while he’s never won off a mark in the 70s, this could be his day.
Cinnodin is a sentimental pick but might need this run after a break. Moel Arthur looks the value play here.
Pick: Moel Arthur – 7/2
3:35pm Musselburgh – Duhallow Tommy
Duhallow Tommy has had a stop-start season due to abandonments, but his Windsor run in December was a career-best effort. The winner, Hasthing, has since gone up 15lb, which flatters the form. While this sharp 2m trip at Musselburgh isn’t ideal, his stamina and jumping could prove
decisive in a race likely to be run at a strong pace.
Teddy Blue is interesting with first-time blinkers and a drop in class, but he’s unproven over fences and can be too keen. Duhallow Tommy, despite a mixed record going right-handed, looks well-handicapped and ready to run a big race.
Pick: Duhallow Tommy – 4/1
