SIR CHAUVELIN arrives here as one of the old boys in the race. The only reason I believe for his big price is the long absence of 385 days off the track.
The last time he came off a break was one off 190 days, where he went off at 50/1 and finished a length back in 3rd at 9st10lb at today’s track over 1m4f. He finished very very powerfully and his speed figure can be heavily upgraded for that, and shows he needs 2m.
His next starts after came over today’s C+D, and his last start over a handicap he was a big 10st5lb, and went off at 9/2 to finish 3rd (today’s C+D).
Lto he ran at today’s C+D in a non handicap at 66/1 and finished 11th. I think this was due to the high class, and the drop back in class and break will look to improve us today at a tiny 9st!
Considering his recent close positions (3rd,4th,3rd) at this C+D and class, 80/1 looks a steal of a price under a lower weight.
Paul Mulrennan has ridden before and has a good record of 17.65% win rate when teaming up with the trainer, who is in good form too winning 31.25% of her races in the last 14 days.
Could be a big upset here running from the back and under little weight this horse could still have some petrol in the tank at his old age.
