Woodward Racing
Windsor 19:35 OPERATIC 6/1 1pt win (Inclusive)

Windsor 19:35
OPERATIC is the youngest in the field at just 3 years old, and I think he has the beating of everyone here.
His stand out run of his current 7 races has been at Goodwood, where he came off a 217 day break to finish 4th scoring a good speed rating over 6f. Since that he has had 2 runs both at Newmarket, on the stiff finish.
He is at 5f here today for the first time, and I think the trainer has made a winning move. Robert Havlin rode at Goodwood, and led the race before weakening in the last 110yards. The drop back to 5f will help with this, and the mount of James Doyle who has been on the last 2 times retains the ride here. He has an excellent record here with a 20% win rate in the last year and 23.94% in the last 5 years.
Same weight as his run at Goodwood (9st7lb) and improvement likely with age and arriving 10 days after his last run, ready to race.
The trainer also has an excellent record here, winning 33.33% of his races in the last year. He is going through some bad form currently however, and that’s the only reason this selection isn’t a Mainstream pick.
A lot of potential leaders here, which can be advantageous at Windsor. I expect us to be with the pace, and with Doyle’s experience here he should get us in a good position. Nice draw down the middle with plenty to aim at; has a fantastic chance at the price.
The danger is A SURE WELCOME, who has won here over C+D the last 2 times. He is up to a big 10st2 today, accompanied with a jockey change to Luke Morris. He doesn’t have a fantastic record here, 5.65% in the last 5 years, and doesn’t often ride for the trainer, 7 rides with 1 win. An odd choice of jockey when your horse is in such great form. The trainer is in flying form too and he is one to watch running prominently.
Providing we get a good ride leading, or in behind the leaders we stand every chance of progressing further back to a track configuration he has ran well at before (sharp) and over a shorter distance. This will be a real good watch and hopefully we’ll cross the line in-front.
